Some entrepreneurial Californians have figured out a life hack that’s bringing in thousands of dollars of extra income each month, and Carolyn Brill of Apple Valley wants to let you in on the secret.
Owner of the active Facebook couponing community Brilliant Couponing Lessons, Carolyn spends lots of time digging through various offers and websites to find the very best deals and money-making opportunities for her followers.
“I teach couponing classes, Black Friday classes, savings lessons, and I shared deals I come across. I reach about 40,000 people per month and we have a community of around 1000 people where people can ask questions,” Brill explained.
One of her favorite financial hacks? OhmConnect.
OhmConnect is a free service that rewards you for saving energy when it matters most to the grid and the environment. You will receive a notification about once per week to save energy for an hour. If you save energy, you receive cash.
Brill estimates that she earns around $50 every time she participates in a MEGA OhmHour and has referred dozens of new users, bringing her total earnings to nearly $2500 in just three months.
“I heard about it a few years ago but it sounded complicated so I said ‘screw it’. Then back in May, a friend [Kim McDermott, also an OhmConnect super-user] reached out about it again so I got it hooked up. I knew I liked it as soon as I started so I started referring others before I’d even had my first #OhmHour!”
These days, Brill commits fully to the energy-saving #OhmHours and flips her circuit breakers to conserve as much energy as is possible when the grid needs it most.
“At the beginning we were just doing the regular things to reduce our energy - turning off lights, unplugging things. But I want every single penny so I flip flip flip!”
“The most common question I get from people who follow my page is whether they need to switch their utility provider. I reassure people that it’s so easy! The only requirement is that they need to be part a PGE, SCE or SDG&E customer. I tell them ‘Sign up! You’ll be amazed! Here’s $10 just to try it!”
